In 2020, Katharine Steele was awarded the first Carrie Winter Mentoring Award for her outstanding Leadership and Service in fostering and promoting iris.

Carrie Winter was presented the 2015 E. Roy Epperson Service Award
for Region 4 of the AIS.
Carrie was a Master Gardener and served in numerous positions in
Region 4 as well as President of the CIS for many years.

Petite Monet, Miniature Tall Bearded Iris, won the Williamson-White
Medal in 1996. The Williamson-White Medal is the highest award given by the AIS solely
for Miniature Tall Bearded Iris. Katharine Steele is the hybridizer.
